Senior IT Support Analyst
Health Intelligence (HI) is a leading provider of bespoke software, analytics and managed solutions to the NHS as well as major provider of the Diabetic Eye Screening services under NHS contract. HI operates the North-West London, Essex, East Anglia and Portsmouth & South East Hampshire Diabetic Eye Screening Programmes.
Health Intelligence is seeking an experienced IT Support Analyst with good Systems Administration skills to join our Information Technology Function to be based in Sandbach, Cheshire. We require a dedicated, enthusiastic and motivated self-starter with a real passion for IT and technology in general; to help maintain and support the HI infrastructure, bespoke software and user base.
Salary: £25,000 to £30,000 dependent on experience
Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
Pension: Salary sacrifice with employer contributions
The post holder would be required to:
- Assist in administration and maintenance of CentOS servers (typically running PostgreSQL and Apache)
- Assist in administration and maintenance of Xen virtual servers
- Administration and maintenance of Windows Domain (AD, GP, DFS…)
- Administration and maintenance of exchange (Office 365 based)
- Asset management and tracking
- Provider high-tier support of Health Intelligence’s bespoke solutions
- Investigate and report on in-house application errors and bugs
- Assist with the testing of application enhancements and technology upgrades
- Provide user administration and management using (AD, Office365, and VPNs…)
- Assist with the planning and deployment of new roll-out and tech-refreshes
- Travel to other HI sites around the UK (mostly in the South East)
- Provide support for networking and connectivity including external internet connections, VPNs and WLAN
- Work as part of a shift pattern covering the following core support hours are Mon-Fri 08:00-20:00 and Sat 09:00-12:00 (subject to change)
- The role will require some ‘out of hour’ work and to be part of an ‘on call rota’
- Any other tasks required by the IT Manager
Must:
- Educated to degree level with proven experience (minimum 2-3 years)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on Windows 7 and Windows Server (2003, 2008 and 2012)
- Advanced knowledge of server administration including Active Directory, Group Policy, and backup technologies
- Good Linux skills (preferably with RHEL/CentOS) – note that 90% of our servers run Linux, Busy Box or FreeBSD!
- Systematic and logical approach to problem solving and the ability to follow set procedures
- Strong troubleshooting abilities on all technology covered about and able to provide this in the form of remote support
- A full UK driving license and access to own transport
- Be able to pass a CRB check
Desirable:
- Good understanding of networking concepts and technologies including and not necessarily limited to: DHCP, DNS and TCP/IP, switches, routers
- Knowledge and experience Virtualization platforms (VMWare, Xen Server)
- Awareness of Information Governance best practices
- Knowledge of Cisco network (routers and switches)
- Good awareness of cyber security best practices
